I ordered the flatbread with the chicken as my meal. The waiter suggested putting feta on it, and boy oh boy was it delicious. Our waiter, Jacob or Joshua, I'm pretty sure it was Jacob, was just SO delightful to be around. He was funny, he was very familiar with their menu, which is SO long, and he kept me at ease. I hate it when waiters make me feel like I'm an inconvenience, but Jacob was such a courteous waiter. I wish there were more people like him in the service industry.

I have gone to BJs a couple of times. It's a decent (note I won't say good) place to go to in Baton Rouge. I think the ambience is 3/5. Good to go with friends and could barely pull off as a romantic spot. The food is decent. It's the only place I found to have DEEP DISH PIZZAS. But then they aren't that good if you're a pizza fan! The CHICKEN PARMESAN is a good entree and so is their JAMBALAYA. I was really disappointed with te service though. We were waiting for water for half an hour. And the cheque took so much time to come that we were totally irritated. Also the whiskey selection isn't that great.

The to go here is horrible. They mess up orders and constantly leave things out. It also takes so long to get your order. I placed an order online and went to the restaurant to pick it up and still had to wait a long time for it.

First visit here and I must say I'm a little disappointed in my overall experience. Hey, don't get me wrong the beers where good, but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered one of their fish dishes, and it tasted fresh, fresh out of the freezer that is. The veggies were over cooked and I can only eat veggies either raw or done right. These fell in between. Carrots hard and broccoli over cooked. I hope it gets better because I frequent this area and always love a place that is solid and can be counted on in a pinch. But at least the beers were cold, that still counts for something!

I received OUTSTANDING service. I have to say that first. However.....I may have just had the worst bj's pizza I've ever had in my life. I have been an avid fan of their deep dish pizza for over TEN YEARS. My pizza today looked like all the cheese had oozed out from the center of the crust and slid down the sides. It tasted awful. My side Caesar salad was DRENCHED in dressing. Granted im accustomed to bjs in California, but still. I expect much more from this restaurant.

Needed to exit the mall for lunch and sanity so we walked to BJ's. Nice atmosphere. Sat in what looks like an add on section next to the windows. Music was a little too loud. Menu is HUGE! They can't make that many dishes and have them taste good. Appetizer was disappointing. Only 2 good points: (1)nice waiter (2)great burger. Will only go if I'm out of other options. And get the burger!!

Yay! Good bar food. Back in the day, chili's was the only restaurant I knew growing up. Then I was exposed to the world of delicious, natural, inventive good food throughout the southern Louisiana I-10 line. Naturally, chili's became my worst nightmare. However, sometimes you crave that original place that has Americas favorites. (hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza and beer) Bj's has slowly become my go to spot for whenever I need to satisfy the appetites of a variety of people. You can't please everyone at an oyster bar or a sushi joint, but you can at Bj's. The only reason why I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the service isn't the greatest. The sample appetizer plate comes with mozzarella sticks, spinach and artichoke dip, avocado rolls, and Sante de rolls. Sub avocado for more Sante Fe egg rolls. Lightly fried Mahi Mahi tacos delicious. Chicken dish also delicious.

The service was pleasant but PAINFULLY SLOW. My beer was also room temperature so they lost a star for that. My Parmesan crusted chicken was to die for but was served with rotted broccoli--how hard is it to LOOK at the veggies before you throw them in the steamer? Sad kitchen fail on that one, your prep cook needs to step up his game and either make sure the veggies are fresh every day and throw away the rotting ones. The chicken was another story though. It was crispy on the outsite and the lemon sauce with the sundried tomato bits and fresh basil were a great counter point but it needed a bit of salt which was so WET in the shaker I couldn't get it out. Here's a tip: put about a quarter of a teaspoon of raw rice in your salt shakers to keep it dry and flowing freely--how can you NOT know this?? My dining companions seemed pleased with their choices, a Tomato cream soup that looked very good, the fish tacos which were also good according to my other friend. Our server was very sweet, but hopelessly incompetent and the service was painfully slow. A little retraining of the staff seems to be in order here.

Great service and great food. There menu is very overwhelming because there are so many items to choose from. I recommend getting the pizza you wont be disappointed. I also really enjoy there strawberry lemonade. No matter what you are all of there food is delicious.

I have only ended up coming here late at night multiple times with people from work in parties of 4 or more. Service can be spotty depending on the traffic in this place. Also, do not expect to get any choice seating unless you are willing to wait awhile - and that annoys me, because the place NEVER looks like it is more than half full. Now as far as food goes, I think the place does a decent job. I have tried various things here and a few stand out. I had this watermelon salad which was very tasty actually! I have also tried their blackened fish entree which was pretty decent. The tomato mozzarella flatbread was also great. Can't say all their food is great though. Some folks on our table did not enjoy all their food. All in all, I think it's an ok place to come to, just be prepared for a long wait and spotty service.

Joshua was the best server I've ever had! He was knowledgeable and funny. He took time to explain the menu and gave great recommendations. (No I'm not related...just impressed!) The food came out hot and fresh. I enjoyed my happy hour prices, too! I give the BJ's experience two thumbs up!

  • Ali C.

The service is always awful. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the pizza is decent. You will wait forever when you walk in the door to get seated. Then wait forever for a server to approach you. Then getting your drinks takes another 15 minutes. If they remember your appetizer that's great, but they probably won't. Good luck if you eat here.

The food took FOREEEEEVERRRRRR. Homygawd. Ridiculous! Took 15 minutes for my uncle to get his iced tea. 15 minutes! And it wasn't at all busy. Needles to say, the food was fantastic. Cajun pasta with shrimp; fish and chips; lettuce wraps; BJ's Favorite pizza. Red wine. Delish. Also, one of the wait staff ran out after us promoting her side catering business. Totally unprofessional.

We have been several times, though less in the last couple of years. We went today to celebrate our anniversary (and also Easter). Service was ok, not great. Food was very filling, although my husband ordered a roast beef/french dip sandwich and it was dry. I'm sure they were just short staffed as if was a holiday, but it was a little disappointing.

A good atmosphere fits the good food. The staff is always nice, just like the food they serve. Of course, it can get pretty loud during a game, but they keep it civilised. BJ's is perfect for a meal before or after a movie.

The food and drinks were great. The desserts are winderful. Our waiter Dominique was awesome. I got the sirloun and baked pitato and steamed green beans. A strawberry splash drink YUM! Everything was delish!! They get 5 from us.

Bj's is known for providing decent a wide pallet of food options & overall decent service in a sports bar / family atmosphere setting during the day and also late night hours. Many of these Bj's restaurant chains do this successfully in other regions of the country. However - this BATON ROUGE LOCATION, coming in frequently for the past seven months - almost the total opposite always seems to occur - generally do to inferior management operations and incompentent/unattentive staff members etc. Usually, If it's not unprofessional hosts who fall to properly greet and assist all customers regardless of their appreance or backround // or waiters which incorrectly take orders from customers ... even after extremely long wait times for food plates . Time after time, this location in particular fails to address and correct these awful issues. Worst yet, they continually have to hire "new managers" - who seem to operate in shady fashions according to their own words/reflections. Its no wonder why Corporate never hears about these serious defects and almost always lets the those regional "supervisors" (aka Team leaders), continue to sweep these negative issues under the rug !! To be absolutely accurate - "the majority", if not everyone staffed here handles this restaurant in a sloppy careless fashion (truly like a play ground of morons). Now, the good or decent employees - if their be any to begin with are often quick to pick up the ridicously habbits as well. Costumer complaints literally get tossed to one another like a "hot potatoe". About 90% of the waiters/servers are always eager ( in a rush) to pick up tips - which they clearly do not deserve! We have spoken to the general manager well over 8 times regarding the multiple errors. Many other customers have tried to voice their complaints as well. The faults includes the following: -MANAGERS CAUGHT STEALING / OR COMMITING sorts of LATE NIGHT FRAUD with employees "Parasites" if you will (Unfortunatly the poorest (under educated and downright ignorant) areas of the country tend to attract absolute "Losers", - and Lousiana, in general is no exception to this sorry delima. -DIRTY /MESSY RESTROOMS & DININ AREAS/ STICKY GREASY TABLES ETC. -EXTREMELY LONG WAIT TIMES FOR FOODS THAT ARRIVE AT OR BELOW ROOM TEMPERATURE. -UNDERCOOKED / POORLY PREPARED FOODS (meats NOT Completly THAWED OUT) (OVERLY SPICED, SEASONED PLATES, sodium craziness) & SLOPPY PRESENTATION. (Cognitively - CHALLENGED COOKS WHO ARE GETTING PAID TO CONTINUE TO COMMIT the same MISTAKES WITHOUT CHANGING THEIR RETARDED PROFORMANCE. -WAITERS & SERVERS WHO DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO CUSTOMERS & REGULARY COMMIT ERRORS ON ORDERS. . . AND CONDUCT THEMSLEVES IN A LASY , DISORGANIZED WAY. (PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO THE BIG SPORTS GAME ON THE TV _-THEN THE CUSTOMER PERIOD. . . ALSO BRINGING YOUR FOOD ORDERS UNDERNEATH THEIR ARMPITS/BUSTS INSTEAD OF USING A PROPER SERVERS DISH TO AVOID EXTRA EFFORT ON THEIR BEHALVE. -EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE A NASTY HABBIT OF COVERING UP FOR EACH OTHER MISTAKES TO KEEP THEIR MEGER POSITIONS. SERIOUSLY, how can they continue to operate this way without "Corporate" becomming truly aware and best yet dynamically involved - even to the extent of micromanaging every aspect of daily restaurant operations as needed. Perhaps, the majority of the Baton rouge city, has a bad tendacy of comforming to beyond lowsey service... To sum it up - I would not recommend this place to a traveler !!! and I would give it a - 3.3 stars if it where permitted by the current rating system. My personal patrinage of this pathetic restaurant has officially ended !! _ its only a short matter of time when this location will be closed. ** LETS REMEMBER THE CUSOMER STILL HAS A "BILL OF RIGHTS", - THEY ARE "RIGHTS", NOT PREVILEDGES .

Let me start with it was very.very crowded. 1pm. Big football game between SF and Seattle. The atmosphere was great. The food was okay. Was expecting better. This is our 1st visit to BJ's. Food took a long time to come out. Had the Carnitas Fries and fried artichoke hearts to start. Were a little cold as if they had ben sitting a while. Fries were Excellent just wish they had been hotter. Sweet pig pizza was good needed less sauce and more cheese. Southern Fried Chicken... FABULOUS CHICKEN. Sides.... not so much. Corn did not taste like corn was overpowered by seasoning and mashed potatoes were either old or instant. On the other hand tbe staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Overall our waitress, Kaitlyn , was wonderful. Just attentive enough. Even with the crowd.

I had an amazing experience overall despite it being a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant being packed with a large birthday group of 20+ people. It was understandable that we had to wait 25 minutes for our entrees. We order the ribeye steak, double deluxe burger, baby back pork ribs, boneless chicken apps with a clam chowder soup. Food was very good and tasty. Our server Meagan was very nice, attentive and had a positive attitude. My friend order her steak to be medium rare but it came out completely rare so they refired her a new steak that was cook to perfection in just a short few minutes. Dessert. Hands down the pizookies are AMAZING. A must have. Cookies and creme is my favorite. While we were getting our check, our server offer us to go boxes and drinks which was very nice of her. Warning though : it can get very loud so not ideal for dates. Also very clean.

I absolutely adore this place, the food is good, I wouldn't say over the top but this place has a calming feel to it. I've tried a lot of the items in the menu and I love the pasta. The house root beer (brewed in the house. ) is delightful and I love the fact that they have a mix of tables and booths so I can choose. I'd totally recommend this place as the servers are very kind and they really smile and they form small chat from time to time versus other places where they smile for show and aren't particularly friendly. Get this place at least once, you won't regret it.

I ordered the half lunch size order of a Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese Flat Bread (with mozzarella, red onions, and a drizzle of basil pieces and pesto sauce) and a side salad - all for $6.95!! And it was delicious!! Basil is my new best friend... I'd like to try the full size order of the Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese Flat Bread - yum!!!

My boyfriend and I came here for a lunch date. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and funny. The food was "okay" it's not bad or anything, but I think it could be more appetizing. For appetizer we ordered the calamari and it was the bomb dot com. It wasn't chewy and the dipping that comes with it were great. For entree, I had the mahi over rice and my boyfriend had the grilled chicken pasta. Well, when our waiter gave our meals to us the grilled chicken was missing. I waited for a minute or two to find our waiter because he's nowhere to be found. Then he gave us the chicken. I don't know if it's just me or the food was a bit bland. I guess that's just how they season their stuff. For dessert we ordered the famous "pizookie" the macadamia nut one. It was sweet. Like very sweet. We just can't finish it. Overall, our visit was okay. Maybe we'll come back to check other things on their menu.

This restaurant has its' good and bad days in the service department..unfortunately today was not the day. Even though we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly by the who we assumed is the manager, it was downhill after that. We were a party of 2 people but since they ran out of utensils we were only given one and was told that he will return with another. 30 minutes later, no waiter or waitress in sight so we had to flag one down to take our order. It wasn't even a full house, it seemed like they were overstaffed. After we placed our order, our drinks came but one of the cups was leaking. 20 minutes later we got our food. Surprisingly the sides were better than the entrees! Fries were crisp and delicious. Clam chowder was flavorful and hot. Our steak was burnt on one side and the angel hair pasta with scallops tasted sour and the scallops were overcooked, rubbery and bouncy. Hopefully the next time we go, we will get good service.

LOVE THEIR BALSAMIC GLAZED CHICKEN!!! This is what I order each time I go. Not a crazy chicken lover but this dish is so heavenly, I think I love the cheddar potatoes the best, but all put together its just plain awesomeness. Kinda like a fancy version of KFC's famous bowl :). But NO WHERE close.. this dish is fantastic. The only negative thing I can say about BJ's is the location, the mall traffic is horrific most days...

Visited this place for the second time last week. Service was actually very good, but it was slow. We ordered the original crust which is pretty much like thin crust, it didn't seem cooked long enough and the crust was soft instead of crunchy like it was last time(which i liked). We also got the chocolate chip pizzookie which was amazing and boneless wings which were equally good. The only down fall is the hideous lamps right next to your table that has an inch of dust on it. If that's the filth left infront of my face, then the cleanliness must be lacking in other places as we'll. therefore, two stars.

We said on our last visit we would never go back. Stupidly we did. The absolute worst service of any restaurant we have ever attempted to eat. Even worse than Chimes East. The server came to our table promptly, once. Brought one of us our beer and announced they were changing the Keg on the other. 15 minutes later, turns out they were out. Ordered a second choice, sadly it never came, nor did the refill. The beer is ok. Not great but better than Bud. Another waiter stopped by and when we complained rolled his eyes and said "oh boy here go again." After a half hour and the second beer didn't show, we saw the manager who brought the beer. After an hour and a quarter, no pizza, no burger, and the place was maybe 10% full. Never, ever will we go there again. Why are there no negative stars!!!

Typical semi-upscale brew house. Food is mediocre with service to match. Oh, they're friendly enough, and look like they should be able to provide excellent service, but sadly, they fail to deliver. Mahi Mahi tacos sound good, don't they? Well, don't get your hopes up. Tortilla soup would be great a starter, but here again, the soup arrived after the entree :( I'd maybe go back for a beer and appetizer, but the odds of catching me at this BJ's for another meal, is slim. Just another reminder why I tend to avoid chains.

Went for a friend's birthday last night and was seated rather quickly which as you know in BR on a Saturday night is pretty hard to find. It took awhile for the food to come out and the servers seemed a bit confused about what went where. The drinks are also extremely overpriced. I ordered the Strawberry Splash, their signature drink and it was almost just as much as my pizza! Of course there were no prices on the menu. Those hiccups aside, the waiter could not have been more polite and friendly. The food was also delicious and the layout of the restaurant is phenomenal for groups. We were able to talk, laugh and not feel like we were being disruptive to other people around. I would recommend to others.

This place has really gone downhill in terms of service, over the past few years. I recommend staying away from this place if you're looking for an enjoyable experience. I hate saying this, because the food is really good.

The food is ok, I got the lunch chicken quesadilla and my wife got a small pizza. The beer? Wonderful!!! Did two flights, four each and they were really good. My favorite is their amber. The service? Horrendous. Our waitress comes by after roughly 8 minutes of being sat and finally starts taking orders. Once she gets our stuff, she throws things down and walks away in stride, same thing for picking up dishes. She's not personable at all and runs away once you get done talking. For this reason I would recommend sitting at the bar because the bartender talks to his patrons. Really regretting not sitting up there.

To start I've eaten here twice with most recent being 2/4/13...I couldn't check in tonite even though I was sitting in the middle of the restaurant...I'd call that a Yelp problem, possibly a phone issue...not sure but I was pissed...I digress, let's get to the meat of the matter so to speak... The food here is UNDERWHELMING!!!!! 1st time ordered Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes....they brought it out DRY!!! Are you jackin me?? The described it as smothered in gravy...that was a freakin joke....when I tried to get more you'd think I'd asked to see the waitress' HooHaa.... Tonite, in with the boy, ordered the open faced Pot Roast sandwich. ...description said smothered in a tasty brown gravy...NOT!! Oh the issues with this dish were numerous....For price charged...4 bite size pieces of Pot Roast on a piece of toasted garlic buttered slice of bread with a skimpy scoop of mashed potatoes...the potatoes were so damn dry and thick and gluey I think if you added water you could make a damn decent brick mortar! NO GRAVY!! Had to beg for it....OOPS, my bad....shoulda quit while I was ahead....the gravy looked like it was made from a powder packet you pick up at the grocery store and had an irony wang to it....that DID NOT compliment the garlic buttered toast the potatoes were sitting on....then on top of that the waitstaff was on us so tight it was like we couldn't breathe...but his ass disappeared once the food came out!!! The Guinness was HOT...not lukewarm, not cool, not cold...HOT like the hinges of Hell!!! The only freakin bright spot was the boy's pizza which was huge and actually cost less than that crap that I ordered!!! I tried a bite and it was good.... The interior looks cool and trendy....but between the smothering waitstaff and the crappy meals I've had here I'm done with this place....NO MORE!!!

We had written this place off after our last visit. Came back to give it a try, glad we did. We were greeted by a friendly smile, seated promptly, and they were kind towards our child, unlike last visit. Our waitress was very swift, getting our ordered and the food came out in a timely fashion. I really enjoyed the pepperoni pizza dip! You can always find the run of the mill spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer, this was different and delicious. My 2 year old agreed! . I also ordered a black and blue house burger. It was cooked properly, seasoned well, and the toppings complimented the burger. I loved the thin cut fries. I always go for thin fries but these are really thin, crispy, and seasoned well. My wife had a tomato bisque bread bowl and really enjoyed it. Our child did also. He ate some of everything! Overall, I think they redeemed themselves from our last visit and I will try this again just to have the pizza dip and try a different entree. Oh, I almost forgot my wife's favorite part, the peanut butter s'mores dessert. She and my son shared it, I don't eat desserts often, but she coaxed me into trying it and I had to confiscate the dish! We ordered a pizza to take home.

Steve saved the day. He is "new" management and u can tell he is there to hopefully save the place. We have a hard time goin out to eat especially at corporate chains because we both have been in the food biz for 20+yrs. we chose BJs today because they have the gluten free crusts and in the past at other locations I was able to order a burger and they use the crust for a bun. Which for anyone GF u know it's just not the same to always have to eat a burger on a lettuce bun .. So that was always a plus but here at this location they first told us No, so I settled for a pizza, when our pizza hit the table they looked like hell.. Center loaded and my topping wasn't correct . And our draft root beers were nasty and flat..so we were very unhappy. The floor mgr Steve came and talked to us and we could tell he really cared. He went to the kitchen to make sure our order came out. They made the burger for me and hooked it up and he even sent us some soups to tide us over while we waited. Customer service was great he asked us for a second chance a he came through. I would go back again just to see how he has changed some things. Good job Steve!

En route from the coast of Mississippi back to Austin. I had been to a BJ's in Austin and had enjoyed the beer. Have since discovered I am gluten intolerant. I was shopping as procrastination for riding in the car for 8 or so hours, and to spend some Christmas cash at the Mall of Louisiana. The lines in the food court were insane, clearly understaffed and then I saw a little blue arrow in the mall that said "restaurants", and hobbled my way under a few too many shopping bags (oops!) to BJ's, where I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get anything more than a sad salad without croutons. LO AND BEHOLD, gluten free thin crust pizza. And it is a good pizza, y'all. My server also asked if I was allergic, which made me at least feel like they are aware and might take care not to cross contaminate. But seriously, best gluten free pizza I've had to date, and that actually is saying something. I also got the peach sangria which is almost inedibly sweet; but I think that's my fault. I should have known what I was getting into with the ingredients list. Might be good with a shot of bourbon to cut down on the sweetness, but I do have a 6 hour drive ahead of me, so I'll hold off.

Our night started out with us telling the hostess we had 5 people. 4 of us had arrived and they try to seat us at a little booth. We remind her than a 5th is coming and she puts us at a small square table, smaller than the booth. On her 3rd try she found a place big enough for 5 people. Our server was always missing and to her credit she looked swamped. No one could get a refill. The food was mediocre at best but 2 pizzas never came and the manager finally came over to apologize and said they were being remade. We spent 2 hours there and we didn't have drinks or anything to add to our time. Will NEVER go back.

I was very impressed with BJ's. It was my first visit but won't be my last. We came during Happy Hour and decided to eat off the Happy Hour menu as well. We ordered chicken wings, the sliders and the mini deep dish pizza. Everything was delicious and we were more than satisfied with the portions. I did not have high expectations for the sliders but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of beef and other toppings. If I were to give a couple of negatives. One would be the size of the menu. It is literally like a book. I felt like a needed a table of contents. The second negative was the bartender that attended to us. He did not seem happy to be there and seemed a little impatient at times but he handled our food and drinks promptly. Overall, I will return!

The food and drinks at this restaurant are FABULOUS. However, the service is typically lacking. I'm here now and practically the only one here. The bartender would rather talk to coworkers than take my order. Unfortunately for him, I'm an extraordinary tipper.

My kids and I stopped here after spending the day at the Mall of Louisiana spending their X-mas gift cards. The hostess informed us that is would a 15 minute wait.....her time estimating skills are not very good as it took close to 40. The words "15 minute wait" must have been on a cue card for them to read to everybody. While waiting I noticed this place looked like every TGIFridays/Chili's/Applebees....except they make their own beer. When we were finally seated, it took another 20 for out waiter to take our drink order. Ithen had to flag him down to take out food order. He was friendly but more interested in the young ladies at the tables next to me and 2 kids. That I don't blame him for but the numb nuts should know men in their 30's tip better than college age girls. We finally get our food and low and behold the appetizer and entrees all come out at the same time. I asked the waiter what's the point in ordering an appetizer if you are just going to bring everything at the same time. He looked confused. Anyway the nachos were cold, the cheese was a big clump, the rest of the food was ok at best. The service here sucks. When i say it sucks, I promise it sucks as I am pretty laid back when it comes to this stuff. They are very unorganized. No silverwear when the food came out, then they didn't have enough clean to give us. I shared my daughters fork. The menu is the size of a Webster's dictionary so that may be part of the problem. They only get a 2nd star because the 2 beers I had that they make were pretty tasty.

Best restaurant in Baton Rouge. If you get the chance come get your grub on. Appetizers on deck and they are all great. Brew their own beers and they taste good.

I spent a few days in Louisiana so I stopped by this place Monday night. Louisiana food is amazing and this place is no different . I had the Cajun pasta it was soooo delicious omg :-). Service was ok . The lady who bought out my cocktails to me ( wasn't my server ) was so nice and friendly ! I ordered 2 different cocktails because the first one was gross . Way too much lime. I didn't want to send it back so we just ordered another . That one was terrible also.. Figured maybe the bartender was a new bartender or something .. All in all good was great and it's right near the mall

I've been here twice in the last month. Both times, the service was good but the food was mediocre. Got the jalapeno burger earlier this week. I've had better at Sonic for a cheaper price. But, my waiter was very attentive and friendly. Beer selection is good. If one is looking for a cool and casual place to watch a game with good food, better to go to Sammy's or The Chimes.

I wasn't overly impressed by this place. I went here with some friends for dinner one night. We all ordered the top shelf margarita and I originally got a chicken sandwich. We all agreed that the margarita was weak and mostly margarita mix. Didn't taste "top shelf" at all and definitely wasn't worth the money ($9). When I got my chicken sandwich, I could immediately tell that something was "off" about the chicken and it just didn't taste right. Sure enough, after a few minutes my stomach felt funny. I complained to the manager who immediately went on the defensive and said, "Well, it can't be food poisoning, because that takes 24 hours to hit." Uh...wow. Okay. I wasn't suggesting it was food poisoning, just saying that the chicken tasted weird. The manager was ready with the "food poisoning" spiel, which tells me that I wasn't the first to complain about this. We weren't charged for the sandwich and they replaced it with a tomato soup (at my request) that was actually really good. I'd probably go back and give them another shot, but I wouldn't order a margarita or anything with chicken.

Great Service by Josh! Pizza was a little burnt on the bottom but wasn't his fault. He was very attentive to us. He hadn't been there that long.

Their pizzas are so delicious! I'm also a sucker for Chicken Alfredo and they have some of the best that I've had! Salads are good too. I'd past on the homemade root beer next time though.

We had not visited here in quite some time because we usually avoid restaurants that have Pepsi products. But we decided to try them today and the food was good but nothing truly exceptional. I had the Buffalo burger and it was flavorful and the slaw on the side was just like I like it....not too soggy and crisp. It was a bit dry though as can be the case with lean cuts of meat.

The food at BJ's is DELICIOUS. Only once have I been unhappy with my meal. And their coffee is amazing. I've gone to BJ's on a couple of occasions just for the simple cup of coffee (Dowe Egbert I believe). The service on the other hand is a horrible. I've visited the restaurant at least 20 times since it opened, and the waiters are always friendly, but only once have I had waiter that I didn't have to very nearly get up and locate if I needed something. I give it five stars for the food, but only one star for the service. On the bright side, if you're really enjoying your dinner conversation, you won't have to worry about getting interrupted...

Its a typical chain restaurant. Most times I dont review chains, simply because most of them will likely be the same. And the review isn't going to help them change or make the restaurant better. Anyway- down to business.... I visited this BJ's multiple times- lunch, dinner, late night drinks. Each time was different. I've previously had a terrible experience at a BJ's in another state, so my expectations were pretty low to begin. First time, was awesome! The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, clear with the specials, and even recommended a few dishes. My fiance even asked to speak with the manager to tell him how great the server did!! (it takes alot to impress the fiance with the food industry!) So we returned... This time for dinner and late night drinks.. This time was mediocre. The waitress wasnt ANYTHING like the first waiter we had. She was pushy- wanted us to get food, but we wanted to sit and drink a little. She had her friends come in at the bar, and it was a large party. She wanted to take care of them which is understandable, but remember.. there are still other tables!! She completely forgot about us when her friends walked in. The table to loud, obnoxious, crowded! So we had to track her down once we were ready to order food. After we had eaten, my fiance got SICK later that night!! He ordered some chicken dish with mashed potatoes and ate some of my pasta also!!!! Third time, a friend invited us out and with the last experiences we thought maybe we'll get another good one. Well the waitstaff was again struggling to keep up with his tables. He didnt check up on us often and we normally had to yell at him from across the room so we can ask him questions. The fiance's burger was BURNT TO A CRISP!!! WORST Burger ever!!!!!!! It was like a crispy patty that sat too long under the heat lamps. I think I got a chicken dish and I wasnt all that impressed with it. With this BJ's its hit or miss.... My expectations are still low. I'll probably return because it was a wide array of choices on the menu, but the service and the quality of food could DEFINITELY be better!!!!!

You know, considering that this is a chain brewpub located right outside of the Mall of Louisiana, it's not half bad! I'll start with the beer - brewed in house. I have found all of the ones I've tried to be quite tasty - well balanced, not overly hopped (as some "in house" brews tend to be). If you are a beer drinker you defiantly want to try the sampler - generous "tastes" of several of the beers. Not a beer drinker? No worries, there is a full bar. The food - basic but solid pub fare. Good burgers, decent fish & chips - nothing fancy but it all does go quite well with the beer! One note - the place can get *very* crowded and noisy at times - epically during an LSU or Saints game (the overall atmosphere is sports bar). Bottom line: Solid pub food and drink. And it's very convenient to the Mall....

This is one of the few bars that serve "there own" beer in Baton Rouge. It is also one of the few places that has a menu which anyone can be satisfied with. I take pride in eating healthy even when I go out, and They have an awesome selection of salads and lighter meals, as opposed to having bar food and grease soaked fries. One of my favorite appetizers is the thai lettuce wraps. They are very light and can be a meal for a single person. They are worth trying. Although there food is excellent and the beer is pretty good, it doesn't get 5 stars because the service is really spotty. One of the times I went I was with a co-worker and it was very good, and the other time i went alone and sat in the bar self seating area, and after 10 minutes I moved to the bar to try to get some service. After 5 minutes of staring down the bar tender he finally acknowledged me. The only problem with the food is I got my appetizer the same time as my meal, which obviously made me feel rushed (I was not rushed, I was watching the basketball playoffs)

Had the worst experience here ever! Every possible restaurant complaint possible, I had here, all in just one visit. wait 10 minutes after being sat to be greeted by our waiter who had passed by multiple times, took drink order, took 5+ minutes to return with with wrong drinks. Ordered an appetizer, no problems there. Ordered soup/salad/burgers for lunch. The burger was served first, and again was the wrong order. Soup was brought out cold, sent back and then never returned, had to ask about it. Salads were served last like they had been forgotten. Had to go to the bar to get own drinks. After speaking with the manager the problems continued to exist. They did comp the meal, but the "free meal" was still NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE.

It's a brew house that does not brew beer. BJ's is to beer what the Olive Garden is to Italian, or better yet it's to beer what Macdonalds is to burgers. BJ's is an appropriate name since It sucks.... It's corporate schlock garbage manufactured fast food trash. Dont waste your time unless you think Applebees is a neighborhood pub.

I am so, so done with you, BJ's. My last review praised you for decent food, but every time I have gone back since (both with groups and to pick up to-go orders) I've had a bad experience. The hosts and hostesses are all surly and rude, and if you bring in a party that requires a few tables to be put together, they will piss and moan and make you stand around for half an hour. I'm fine waiting for a bit when coming in with a group of 8, especially if the restaurant is bustling and full, but when four out of eight of us come in at 6:30 on a Tuesday and less than 25% of your tables are filled? Don't make us stand there for half an hour and insist that we have at least five people arrive before you seat us. We would have happily sat down and started filling your coffers by ordering drinks and appetizers, but clearly you didn't want the extra $80 on our tab. If you absolutely have to have BJ's because you're craving their pot roast, do yourself a favor and order it to go. If you're very very lucky someone will actually be tending the curbside phones, and you'll only have to walk in to get your food about half the time.

The two times i have been here the meals i ate were terrible. My father ordered chicken fried steak and expected to get gravy, when it came out i almost laughed because there was so little gravy it only covered a quarter of the steak and the STEAK WAS SMALL!!!!!!!! The pizza was small and was greasy and soft, it was disgusting and covered in garlic. SIMPLY TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What? Another dark, candle lit chain resturant... with a name like BJ's its not the beer that comes to mind! Out server Ariel was amazing and so on the spot! She was smart, funny and did her thang well, you go girl! The happy hour pizza did not provide a happy ending for me, but my pal Dave thought it was ok.#1 complaint... too much dough! I had the pasta with some spicy red sauce and it was, ok. Just OK... my problem may have been that bangin spicy bloody mary I ordered to go with it. Dave had some kind of chic salad (he's always making me look bad and ordering the salad! He though it was tasty. Can you believe he complained about the number of choices on the menu? men... complaining about choices and ordering salads! Its an ok place and I'd go again if I make it back to town, check it out for happy hour, the game or some consistant foods.

It's normal BJ's- watered-down drinks and a "way-too-varied" menu. It's a good, decent restaurant for kids. My husband loved the beer variety. Nothing incredibly special, but yes, I wi be back again.

  • Alex S.

I went for lunch around noon on a weekday, and the value is pretty good. The prices are a little exorbitant for dinner, but I think the lunch portions and prices are more reasonable. The service was quick, especially for lunch. The rewards program for BJ's is free, and I got a $5 off coupon when I signed up! The salad was standard, nothing great, but also not bad. My only real complaint is that my salad had a little too much dressing, so I will be getting it on the side next visit.

This place is hit or miss... The atmosphere on game weekends is awesome... Most of the time the food is great, then sometimes it's just average. I love the pizza here, but I think the quality goes south real quick when the kitchen gets slammed.

Overpriced for both food and beer. Flatbread is absolutely tasteless. Take a pass on this place. Wait staff and the seating hostess are bored, clueless and waiting for their shift to end.

Went to this location a few weeks back after the LSU/Towson game. Been to BJs in Houston a few times not because it's great, but because it's good enough. Saw on Yelp that they close at 100 am. We arrived at about 1100 pm. We weren't really greeted. Hostess person was cleaning menus or something in her big round booth thing. She had her back to us. She talked to some passing wait staff a couple of times. A waiter then asked if he could get us something to drink while we wait for a table. The place was literally half empty! There were four of us, not forty. Why did we have to wait? It reminded me of walking into a fast food place when employees who hate their jobs clean up an hour before closing and give you a hard time for daring to make them work. We left. Our neighborhood BJs in Houston was okay at first, but became mediocre in service and food quality over time. I was hopeful. Now their off my "desperate for anything open" list in two states.

Nice selection of food and great selection of beer. My first trip to BJ's was on a gift card from a relative, I had never heard of the place. I went not knowing what to expect. I decided to try the pizza, since it was in their name. I ordered their signature pizza, which is a deep dish "supreme" type pizza. I wasn't too impressed with the pizza, but I've had worse. The toppings are corse cut, which I found odd. Large chunks of tomato, onions, etc. I had vowed to not return because I wasn't impressed. My second trip occurred the following year when I again received another gift card. I figured I could go this time and try the microbrews at least. I went in and ordered the Roast Beef sandwich w/ gravy (french dip anywhere else) - this sandwich was AMAZING. I think there was some grilled onions in there, I don't know, but it was simply the best french dip I had ever had, my previous favorite was Brew Bachers. My companion had the chili cheeseburger. The name is a little misleading, you won't be eating this "burger" with your hands. It is served open face and drenched in chili sauce (I believe this was disclosed in the menu). The burger is massive. My companion ate roughly half at took home the rest. I did not personally try it but I was told it was very good. Both times I went was for lunch on a weekend. The atmosphere was relatively quiet with people of all walks of life coming and going, generally cheerful and relaxed in an environment similar to J. Alexander's, trendy and modern yet a step above typical casual. I tried several of the beer available. There is an ample selection to choose from for anyone looking for a different taste from the typical domestic pilsner.

This is one of my favorite places to eat at when I'm in Baton Rouge. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and yummy food. One of my favorite dishes there is the Salmon. While waiting for my food, they gave out free appetizers so patrons could try their new items. Love them! Wish there was one in New Orleans

Ah, BJs. We meet again. After visiting this restaurant twice in 2009 and finding the place to be lackluster, I decided to give it another try yesterday with my girlfriend. I beat my girlfriend to the restaurant, so I take a seat at the bar while I waited for her. I ask what the happy hour specials are- they weren't especially impressive. I decided not to order a ridiculously priced $6.00 pint of beer and had water instead. My girlfriend arrives, we are seated. Our server, Veronica, meekly greets us. She was timid and made us both a bit uncomfortable. After she fetched our water my girlfriend asked what a gin and tonic would cost. "Umm, I'm not really sure, let me go check" she replied.. A few minutes later she came back with an estimate. We order the cocktail and begin looking over the menus. What colossal menus BJs has! There are pages and pages of different appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, etc. Veronica checks to see if we've made a decision on what to eat. I ask a question about the pizza special for the day and, again, she must go off and find out from someone else. She comes back with a pseudo-answer that doesn't much help me, and not wanting to risk pressing her on the question and making her walk across the place again for clarification, I drop it. I order the 8 ounce house sirloin, my girlfriend gets the lettuce wrap appetizer with cheese and broccoli soup. The broccoli in her soup was mushy and the soup was disappointing. My salad was good enough. Our entrees come. My steak is cooked as I asked and is about as good as one can expect a sirloin to be. The baked potato is large and came with everything you'd expect. It was good. The lettuce wraps were also quite good. I remembered from my previous BJs experiences that the "pizookie" was the saving grace of the restaurant. It is a hot chocolate chip cookie served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream that really is just fantastic. I was really looking forward to ordering this. As I'm finishing up my meal Veronica asks if we'd like dessert. I wasn't done with my potato, so I said for now I'd just like more butter and sour cream. She obliges. Once I've finished my potato she brings the checks without asking if we want dessert. Realizing its taken an act of congress for us to get Veronica to do anything efficiently, I decide to not ask for dessert. Veronica picks up our bills a few minutes after dropping them off to us, but we hadn't paid yet. She nervously brought them back to us and apologized. We paid and were on our way, disappointed with the experience as a whole. BJ's is an overpriced restaurant with too large of a menu. No wonder poor Veronica had no idea what was going on- that menu would take a great deal of time and effort to fully understand. For the product and service we received, I would much rather have gone somewhere else. The food was...pretty good. The service was poor. The prices are high- for what they charge the food (and service) should be excellent. But hey, if you have the money to blow and don't mind sub-standard restaurants, stop on by! If you appreciate value and good service, go somewhere- anywhere- else.

Don't know what happened on 9/22/13. Love the menu, beer and atmosphere. Went Sunday evening, 18 tables with people, counted 22 employees, no service for 15 minutes even while 2 tables next to us got food. Went to bar, employees walked past twice without a word. On third time I said excuse me, are you working back here, they responded yes and walked off. Wife and I went to the hostess, asked for manager, they went in back and 10 minutes later still never came out. We just left, 30 minutes without even being offered a glass of water. Been to BJs over 20 times and never saw anything this bad, here or anywhere for that matter. Management needs to get this situation under control.

I have reviewed before and been pleased, but not this time. Waited forever for food. We had four people in our group and only 3 dishes were brought out. We didn't see our waiter until 15 minutes later to ask for the dish. Then had to wait another 10 minutes for them to bring it out. They knew they were giving horrible service so they offered to take the late dish off the ticket. That's the only nice gesture made all night. I will say that once the food came out ,I did enjoy it...but the service made the meal miserable. Also, our drinks were never refilled.

Located at the Mall of Louisiana, this place is honestly one of the BEST restaurants in Baton Rouge. From the very modern inside and outside, to the beautiful exterior and interior decor, to vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff, this place is absolutely amazing. There is also a full bar with a HUGEEEE television and lots of rich people come here to enjoy a drink and laugh and watch the games. Not to mention...the FOOD is to die for, seriously!!!! I had a strawberry-lemonade ($1.99) to drink and it was honestly the BEST strawberry-lemonade I have EVER tasted (seriously!!). I also ordered the BJ's Burger ($8.99), which was so good, it practically melted in my mouth. I couldn't even FINISH the whole burger, I was soooo full, thank goodness (because I rarely get full at restaurant servings). Undeniably, one of the nicest places to eat.

I am giving the two stars for the appearance and beer list mainly. The pot sticker appetizer was exactly like a box I got out of the supermarket freezer. My fiance's pot roast was very disappointing. The gravy looked and tasted like a powdered packet from the store as well. The crispy jalapeno burger was decent. I am glad I took the burger as a safe choice. I have heard compliants about service, but our server must have been above average. He kept me hydrated.

BJ's is one of our favorite places to bring the kids. It's loud and has a great kids menu, while also giving my wife and I plenty of decent options for dinner. I've also been to BJ's several times for lunch, and they have a pretty good lunch menu with several good deals. Even the deep dish pizza is passable - and that comes from a native Chicagoan. There's perhaps no outstanding cuisine here, but I've yet to find anything on the large (think Cheesecake Factory) menu that was objectionable, either. The only drawback to this place is consistently slow service. Usually the servers are nice and seem well-intentioned, but food and drinks (other than soft drinks) take forever to arrive. Usually this doesn't bother me, but recently I had lunch here with a relatively large group. I ordered a burger without their "special sauce," clearly noted by the server. When the burger arrived with the sauce, the server was extremely apologetic. However, due to the glacial pace at which the kitchen seems to move, everyone else had finished eating by the time my correct dish was served. Bottom line, BJ's is a solid choice amongst chain restaurant options in Baton Rouge, especially if you're dining with kids.

Met a colleague here for a beer before a movie. There is a great beer selection and an impressive offering of alcohol in general. Good crowd and quick seating from the hostess made for a nice experience. The service was average, but friendly. I recommend drinking your beer from the bottle, as my server over poured the last Hoegaarden in the place only to create a small puddle outside of my booth. Not cool. She was so excited to let me know that I got the last one and then wastes some of it by overflowing my glass (which I did not ask for). Idiot!

The first drawback is that the menu is so massive that it takes you 15-20 minutes to read it. So if you are starving, it is best to review the menu online before you think about going here. Once you order, the food is excellent. I have not had a bad meal here. The portions are larger than normal, which is a plus in my book!

Horrible experience. I believe that the server's name was Kristian? Something of the sort. We sat at 2 seater booth in front of the restrooms. The floor under the table was so sticker that our shoes would completely stick to the floor to the point that they made noise while walking away. I'm guessing that a drink was spilled and the seats were wiped but the floor wasn't cleaned... not a big deal. Complaints are for the service. My girlfriend sat for 10 minutes before being greeted, and 10 more to get a water. I arrived 20 minutes after her about the time that the water arrived. The spinach and artichoke app was fine. It was over an hour when the entrees arrived. Girlfriend ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and it was cold. I ordered something new off the menu, a pulled pork slider and a chicken breast, but forgot what it was called. The slider was hot but the chicken breast and fries were cold and slaw was hot. The waitress asked if I wanted another beer when the entrees came out, she never brought it until I was finished my meal. She asked about dessert and we declined and mentioned the food being cold. She brought out the kitchen manager! We didn't complain about the taste of the food. We told him the issues and didn't know why he was brought out. Now here's the kicker, her meal was comped at 9.50 i think and then a second Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo was added at 12.50 and comped, but my entree was still there. The kitchen manager did offer to remake but at that point, we couldn't. There was another table next to us whose waiter my girlfriend knew, he seemed great. Couple of guys sat on the other side of the wall from us, sat after us, got their food and finished before us. And the bad thing is our waitress wasn't that busy. She only has 2-3 tables including us. Oh, even better, when the girlfriend arrived she asked to be seated in the bar area. She was ignored. A different girl brought her to the booth, and she asked again to sit in the bar, the girl made eye contact with her and sat her in that booth.... I'm not hating the food, but the service.

  • David P.

The beer was pretty good but the food wasn't anything special. The appetizer was pretty bland and both entrees my wife and I had weren't all that great either. In fact, I felt the menu to be overwhelming for a chain. There's no signature dish, nothing that stood out in the menu. My only complaint about the beer is that the glasses you're served with for their craft brews are said to be pints but I'd say they're closer to 14 oz. The beers are quite expensive, going about 5-6 bucks a "pint". I don't care if its craft brew, those are strip club prices. Basically BJ's is a brewpub with a restaraunt and mediocre food at best. Service was decent. Probably a good place to hang out with friends for a few drinks but its not a place I'd make my way to go out to.

Great place to get some beers with some friends. There's a great variety of food here and the service has always been good. The food here in my opinion is average, but it's fun to hang out and get a couple pitchers of different beers they have on tap. Had the "Best Beginnings Appetizer Combo" which consisted of spinach & artichoke dip, mozzarella sticks, avocado egg rolls and Santa Fe spring rolls. Pretty much bar food. Also tried the Mediterranean pizza and it was okay and nothing to get excited about. I really enjoyed the BJ's Brewhouse Blonde beer. It was very smooth and tasty. ^_^

  • Jack X.

I don't get the appeal of BJ's. My guess is that it is located outside the Mall of Louisiana and the Rave theater and one of the closest places from I-10, and the interior has a "classy motif." Overall, though, the food is very mediocre and also overpriced. I visited BJ's a few times. On my last visit, I had a waiter who opted to socialize with a table of female customers instead of dealing with the table I was at with mostly male customers. He also made numerous mistakes with our order and was very slow to deliver. Sadly, there are many who castigate Baton Rouge for having bad culinary choices, and BJ's seems to perpetuate that stereotype. There are far better places in the Mall of Louisiana vicinity--you just have to drive a bit on Bluebonnet to find them, although the restaurants on the Bluebonnet side of the mall are pretty good.

Yet again, I feel like I am beating my head against a brick wall.....humbley. I gave BJ's another chance to treat me right. I ordered take-out from them (because they are WAY too slow to eat in the restaurant). I ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich but when my dinner companion went to pick up the order, only THEN did they say they were out of Pulled Pork. This was early into dinner service, like around 7:30 p.m. There is NO WAY they should be out of Pulled Pork. When we've eaten in the restaurant, they've been out of Pork chops. What is their deal with being out of pork entrees??? So frustrating! So I changed my order to the chicken fried steak which I did not really want but couldn't think of anything else that suited my tastebuds. That's why I had chosen the Pulled Pork Sandwich, it would've hit the spot. When we got our meal home to eat, I noticed my chicken fried steak was overcooked and almost burnt. It tasted as such as well. The only good thing was the mashed potatoes. The food was barely lukewarm, and it wasn't really a cold night and we don't live that far away. It's sad BJ's is wasting away slowly but I predict this restaurant will close eventually. Just not enough good employees to keep it running and not enough good chefs to execute the wonderful menu items, and not good enough management to make sure everyone is doing their jobs AND management who makes sure the kitchen is well stocked with food for orders. Very poor, I predict a close. People will keep eating here due to the good menu, but will leave disappointed because patrons are constantly being told the kitchen is out of something or other and the wait staff is SLOW as Christmas!

The food was really great, but what made my visit here distasteful was halfway through our meal our waitress began to push desert on us. Again before we completed our meal our check was brought to us. I understand that there was a large party about to arrive, but that is no excuse to push your other paying customers out the door.

This is a new place that has an insane amount of food to choose from. Everything I have had there is good. The service is kind of hit and miss depending on how busy they are. So far, they have the best fish tacos I have ever had in Baton Rouge. Definitely get the pazookie for dessert too! They have some good beer selections too.

My wife and I, on one of our very few nights out from our kids, decided to eat at BJ's before we went to a movie. We walked in on a Friday night around 8:30 and sat right down. Our server greeted us promptly and we ordered 2 beers and the lettuce wrap appetizer. After about 5-10 minutes our appetizer arrived but our drinks didn't arrive until a few minutes later. Without prompting our server said he had "stuff to do" and that is why our drinks were late. The lettuce wraps were awful. For almost $11 we got four pieces of lettuce that was full of holes and tears. For that price I expect firm, whole pieces of lettuce that can actually hold the food that comes with them. We then ordered our dinners. My wife ordered a turkey cobb sandwich. I tried to order a small, whole wheat deep dish pizza but the server told me that the whole wheat only came in a mini size. So I ordered the mini Mediterranean pizza on whole wheat crust. A runner brought our food out. My wife's sandwich was supposed to come with applewood bacon, avocados, and a blue cheese dressing on it. It came out without all 3 of those things. My pizza came out on "white" crust instead of the whole wheat. We explained to our server the mistake on the sandwich and I just decided to eat my pizza. He said he would be right back. When he returned he had a plate of sliced avocados and bacon. He explained that the sandwich guy was new and that my wife could just fix her sandwich herself. If we wanted to make a sandwich we could have done that at home! I asked the hostess to send the manager to our table. He also explained that the sandwich guy was new and that some people didn't mind putting those things on their sandwiches. At no point were we offered a "new" sandwich. To their credit after my wife explained that she didn't want to eat the sandwich they did take it off our bill. Poor service from the bar, kitchen, wait staff, and management. I look forward to the restaurant that takes this one's place in a few years.

This is a really good place to go. Great little bar area and nice large restaurant area. The menu is extensive and there are plenty of good options to chose from. There are large screen TVs all over the restaurant with lots of options. I like the appetiser menu and their great beer selection. Try the beer sampler!
